Cousins

Willow and her 1 year old cousin Lulu Clementine had a blast together over Thanksgiving.
Willow on the verge…of talking!
December 12, 2008
Willow has been doing these long monologues more and more lately, and it’s so incredibly exciting to see how much she wants to express, how expressive she naturally is, and how she really seems to enjoy “conversating” with Bonnie. She has been with us just a little over a year, and, man, she’s changed so much! She’s really come a long, long way. You will hear in this monologue many recognizable words that she intersperses with Willow-speak. She really, really, wants to speak!

One of the great joys we’ve experience in our brief time with Willow so far is her love of music, which is something we noticed almost right away when we first met her in China. As a result, we always make sure she has plenty of music around her, instruments to play (she now has 4 piano toys and a drum), videos with lots of singing and dancing, music class… One of her favorite video series is the Wiggles, which always has a lot of singing, dancing and quirky themes, and here Willow demonstrates what comes very naturally for her when her favorite Wiggles sequences come on – she just gets up and goes! When we are all in the room together and the musical rhythm planets align, it always becomes a family dancefest, which Willow just loves. As long as our backs remain intact, Willow will always have parents to dance with.
In Mommy’s Footbeds

One of the funniest things Willow is doing these days is gathering my shoes, figuring out how to wedge her little feet into them, and walking around the house like Igor dragging my oversized footwear. Sometimes she manages to get two size 8’s on at the same time. More often she drops one, slalom style, to more nimbly lurch around. Here she is this morning wearing one of her favorite of my shoes, a turquoise terry cloth flip flop. Later on today she became rather put out with me for donning the pair myself, as, in her world, she has first dibs.
